Sweet Stack!

Managed to make a set of 20 baby thank you's for my friend today.

So glad to get them done!

It's the only thing I accomplished today...aside from getting sicker...

Got Milk?!

My "Bessy Days" are coming to an end...
The babes are eating regular food...but they still
get fussy after their meals and so I am called to serve!
Snapped this pic of Miss 'c' this morning.
They don't often get this sweet slip of milk trickling across their chin...
I wanted to capture it while the opportunity still exists...
These past 9+ months have gone quicker than I ever could have thought.
Soon my milk days will be a distant memory...or should I say mammary...LOL!
So, go to your fridge, pour yourself a tall cool glass of milk [cow's, soy, goat, rice, almond, chocolate...whatever your preference] and raise it high!
Let's toast to the miracle of milk!

Stacks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have three surfaces in my living room that just seem to ALWAYS be STACKED UP with STUFF!!!!!!!!!!
WHY?????????????????????
It drives me BONKERS!!!!!
I MUST get a handle on this situation...somehow....SOON!
There are two long bookshelves and then this table...
THIS TABLE!!! UGH!!!
You will notice the shelf in the background is TIDY!!!
Yay me!
The other long bookshelf WAS tidied a few days ago...but now...
...a little bit of this...a little bit of that....bit by bit...
...piece by piece...layer by layer....it stacks up.....AGAIN!!!
It is NOT as bad as this table...this table!!!
There's even a chair stacked on it!
I did have success 'once upon a time' when I cleared it all off and put a pretty
vase with some tulips in the middle...
It was nice to see them there.
I saw the tulips in the grocery store the other day...
Perhaps as an incentive for clearing this table I will buy a couple bunches...
THAT sounds like a great idea!
So why am I showing you my stacks...perhaps in a way to 'get it out there'...
I'll show my stacks in the hopes that there might be another one or two stacks in homes around the world...
So they won't feel lonely...there are other stacks somewhere out there!
But you can be sure...THIS stack will be GONE by tonight!
And the other stacks that are 'building' on the other book shelf...
Yes...they too will be GONE!
This has been a thorn in my housekeeping side for years...
Everything needs a place to be...or it needs to find a new home...
I already have a few boxes ready to take to the SA...perhaps there will be a few
more before today is done.

It's a rare sight...

...but it happens...occasionally...EMPTY laundry bins!!!
It's a GREAT feeling to see NOTHING...well..you can see the floor through the mesh!
It's a beautiful thing!
Not as glorious and wondrous as sunrise or sunset...but it makes my SAHM heart go pitta-patta!
Makes me feel like I might actually have a moment to get something else done...even something fun!
I snapped this pic this morning...and the reality is that they aren't empty now!
It's the end of the day ...I am certain someone has put their laundry in there...
but that's ok...because for one brief moment... they were EMPTY!
And I have the picture to prove it!

This Little Piggy...

...is the LAST one standing!
There were three little squeaky piggies...once upon a time.
They started out in another household...my sister`s...
My niece (who is now well into her 20's and married!!!) and nephews (17+ and almost 21)...started with 3 little squeaky piggies...but somebody bit a hole in one of the squeaky piggies...I'm not saying who...you know who you are!
So we inherited 2 squeaky piggies and 'g' managed to keep them both intact...
but 's' bit a hole in one...so now...there's only ONE squeaky piggy left.
'z' kept the one wee squeaky piggy squeaking!!!
Will this last wee squeaky piggy make it beyond the girlz?
Only time will tell!
One thing's for sure...it's well loved, chewed on and drooled on!

You know...in their dresses BEFORE they were changed back into their cozy warm sleepers...
It proved to just be too much for poor wee Miss 'c'...she was just too, too tired...

It's way harder than you can even begin to imagine even with help!

Crystal Clear...

Ok...they're not crystal...I know.
Just what is it that I love about clear glass bottles?
I'm not quite sure...
I enjoy their quirky shapes and various textures...
Some even have raised text...
{I believe we've covered how I feel about text already...}
One bottle I saved contained some delicious lemonade that my Mom and I shared on our return trip from Alberta...
It was the last time I saw my Grandma {My Mom's Mom}.
Another bottle had a delicious Italian soda in it.
Others use to hold vanilla and maple extracts.
Some were picked up at garage sales or 2nd hand shoppes...
I wonder what they had in them?

I love to pop individual flowers into each of the bottles...
Right now and for most of the year they stand on my kitchen window sill...reminding me of the variety of liquids they once held...and of the memories they now hold...
Crystal clear memories indeed...

Bonus Hang Time with the Girlz + 'Z'!

It's finally Friday!
As usual I spent the day with 'c' & 'g2' and then after school I was joined by 'z'...
dh took 'g' & 's' to the 4 pm showing of the movie Avatar.
It's 2 hours and 36 minutes!
So that meant that I was still 'on the clock'...with the help of 'z'.
But that meant I was able to do a bit of swishin' and go to the bathroom!!!
Woohooooooooooooo!!!
Dinner was a reheat of whatever was in the fridge.
After supper it was time to play...and we are to the "pulling-up" phase of babyhood!
I noticed the lack of 'pull-up' furniture we have accessible so I moved
one of our padded trunks into the middle of the room...
Well...they were over to it and UP to it in NO time!!!
And 'z' was right there with them!
It was a longer day than usual...this bonus hang time...sure takes it out of me...
but they're just so adorable...it's worth it...
Now can I go to bed?!?

How many toys...

...can one floor hold?
...do I step over in a day?
...do I step ON in a day?
...does one babe need?
...do TWO babes need?
...do I pick up every day?
...can one babe dump in 5 minutes?

One Happy Babe!

Upon entering the babes' room this morning her sweet smiling face greeted me!
How can this not be my potd?!
Miss 'C' , I discovered today, is popping a tooth!
She's smiling through it and chewing on EVERYTHING!
I'm hoping that one happy teething babe will keep being a happy teething babe...
Where are those Lithuanian Amber necklaces?!

The All Day Breakfast...

Would you just look at this morning's delicious breakfast!
Wondering why I call it 'The All Day Breakfast'???
Well...it's quite simple really...some days it's takes me ALL DAY to eat it!!!
Let me tell you why I love this toast with natural peanut butter and banana so much...
I know you're just dying to know aren't cha?!
This breakfast is pretty much indestructible!
If I am toasting my bread and one or two babes commences wailing...NO PROBLEM!
I can switch OFF the toaster oven and deal with whatever needs my attention and return at any time to find my bread...toasted!
If I need to warm it a tad....it's easily DONE!
Now...on to the peanut butter and banana...both of these are ok at room temperature for several hours....oh sure...the banana might oxidize a wee bit...but that's ok...
It still tastes the same!

So...at anytime during my morning or day...I can grab a bite or two...and keep on movin'!
PLUS....a wee snippet of toast or a smush of banana can be popped into a babe's mouth to appease them and let me FINISH my breakfast!
It's a win-win breakfast situation!!!

This morning I was actually able to eat the whole thing!
One babe was napping and the other sat in an exersaucer and nibbled on Cheerios and banana whilst I munched!
I even managed a glass of juice to wash down my daily dose of vitamins!
It was a rather calm few moments!
Not a common occurrence you can be sure...usually I am finishing up my last few bites whilst the older kiddos are enjoying their after school snack!
Try doing THAT with a bowl of cereal and milk that's been on the counter for 8 hours...ICK ...it's a tad mushy!
I know I need to eat regularly but some days I just don't have the time/opportunity!
These babes keep me hoppin'!

Sensational Citrus!

Thought I'd post a shot of some sweet, sweet citrus today.
The winds were howling last night and the rain was coming in sideways!!!
I needed something that would remind me of warmer days...that soon I'll be complaining that it's just TOO HOT!!!

I love to load up a BIG vase with these brightly coloured fruits!
So summery! So gorgeous! So sweet!
Lemons and tangelos and limes....OH MY!

Hope you can do something today to remind you of the warmer days and nights ahead!

The promise...

Can you believe these crazy plants?!?!?
My Mom gave me this loverly pottery garden bowl filled with
mini daffodils several years ago....at least 5...
The first time it came time to trim back the dead parts, tuck away, water sparingly until the spring....etc...etc...
I failed miserably!!!
It got shoved underneath my potting bench and completely ignored!!!
Somehow it survived...
In the late winter I was out tidying up a few things and lo and behold...
there it was...still underneath the potting bench...and what did I see?
Plenty of wee green shoots popping up through the dark, dry earth.
These flowers had had NO water of any kind for several months...
HOW could this be?
How could these plants survive let alone THRIVE?!
How? How?? HOW???

I pulled it from underneath the bench, set it out in the sunlight and gave it a nice BIG drink...
"Let's just see what happens..." I thought.
You know...that crazy thing grew and grew and grew and BLOOMED!
I placed it by my front door to brighten my comings in and goings out...every time I exited and entered my home....there it was
brightening my day...or night!
Bringing a smile to my face and reminding me of my Mother!

So, do you think that I learned my lesson?
NO!
Every time is comes to dealing with said pot o' flowers...the same thing happens...
I do manage to trim off the wilted parts...but then it gets shoved underneath my potting bench...and there it sits...
until I somehow come upon it AGAIN with it's short green shoots reminding me...."We're here! We're here!"
Kinda like the Who people in Dr. Seuss's ...Horton Hears a Who...

Last winter/spring 2009 ...when we had sooooo much snow....
I found this pot UNDERNEATH some melting snow!!!
Yes....those crazy wee green sprouts were poking out from the crispy crunchy crust of white!!!
I couldn't believe my eyes!
Yet AGAIN these flowers had survived my neglect!!!
No wonder I love them so!!!
So THIS year...last fall...my Mom and brother came over to
help me tidy up the yard in preparation for winter...
I did not tuck this pot under my bench...it was left out where it would get some rainwater...
And last week I discovered it AGAIN...those pretty, fresh green shoots...AGAIN poking thier way up through
the moist dark earth...
AGAIN...
AGAIN...
AGAIN...

How many years now? I'm not sure...
Have I learned my lesson...?
Not about plant care obviously...
But I have learned this...
It seems to me that even though we may neglect something again and again and again...
There is still the promise that it will return again and again and again...
And continue to brighten our life over and over and over...
The promise from someone who still believes in us...still loves us...no matter how much we neglect them...
That brings peace to my heart and a smile to my face...

We just need to keep on trying...again and again and again...
No matter how many years it's been...

So I'll do that... I'll keep trying...trying to learn my lessons... I promise!

Breakfast Anyone?!

After a rather bumpy sleepless night with the babes...my sweet son brought me breakfast in bed at 9 am!
How can you not have a good day with a start like that?!!
He does this several times a year...somehow he knows when I REALLY need it!
He's a very thoughtful boy, he makes my heart smile!

This is the earliest pic-of-the-day I have.
It just had to be!
And that makes it easier on me...now I can turn my "searching for a pic" part of my brain OFF for today!
So many reasons to smile today!
Let's see if I can list ten...

1. ds brought me breakfast in bed!
2. I managed to get the babes 8 month pics taken this morning (even though they'll be 9 months in 8 days...chalk it up to the Christmas crush!)
3. It's not raining cats 'n dogs!!!
4. I have lots of hands to help with the babes!
5. I'm going to play with paper today!
6. I get to have a shower without worrying about if a babe has awaken and is crying in their crib!
7. My friend made a most decadent chocolate cake and i get to have a piece today!!!
8. The fridge is full of food!
9. dh is bathing babes!!! LOVE the smell of a fresh, clean babe and I get it "in stereo"!!!
10. Kiddos are happy and dancing in the living room!

Let's hope the enthusiasm lasts while they do their Saturday chores....perhaps if I crank some music they can just "boogie" on through them!!!

Stampin' It UP!!!

I got to plaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Felt so good to get my hands on some paper, yes...those are MY hands!!!
And... technically it's not paper...it's cardstock!
My friend is a Stampin' Up demonstrator and tonight she had a show!
So since those are my hands you know I wasn't able to snap the pic...
I knew what I wanted the composition to be and 'D' snapped it for me! Thank you!

Made two super sweet cards with techniques I've been wanting to try!

I'm a Textual Being!!!

Just what is it about text, fonts and numerals?!
I just can't get enough! I just can't get enough!

Seriously...I have ALWAYS loved anything with letters or numbers!
Whenever I see something covered in text or numerals... my heart goes 'pitta-patta'!
So today I thought I would snap a pic of my fridge...just a plain white fridge on any other day...
...but "Santa" brought me some droolicious texty magnets for Christmas!
I love to play with them!!!
They are the Magnetic Poetry Mixed Up Movie Lines kit.
That Santa's one smart cookie!
I frequently inject lines from films into my conversations...
so this was a perfect stuffing stocker for me!

It's been great for the bigger kiddos too...
even though they don't know it...
they're reading and playing with words!
They don't have any problems with reading...
but every little bit helps....switching the words around and
making up new sentences is fun, fun, FUN!!!
Just want to get them HOOKED while I can!

My computer is LOADED with fonts, fonts and more FONTS!!!
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE them!!!
My Grandma use to write me letters on her typewriter.
She would sign 'love Grandma' at the bottom of the page.
I think this is the reason why I have several old style "typewriter"
fonts amongst my faves.

It's Tuesday!
My day to drive...
dh was home sick and told me just to go, he'd wrangle babes...
So I figured I'd better get a few errands done while I'm flyin' solo!
Snagged a few groceries and met a friend at the local stamp shoppe...
When we were done she wanted me to go for a bite to eat...
I tried calling home but there was no answer...
I decided I'd better check in back home to make sure he didn't need any help...
These two wee sprites can spin into Tazmanian Devils before you can bat your eyes!!!
LOL...
When I arrived home this was the scene...
I dropped the bags of groceries and scooped up my camera!
No time to set anything...anyone could wake at any moment...
So this is my pic for today!

Oh btw...dh told my friend and I to go ahead and go for lunch!!!
Lunch was delicious and dessert was even better!!!

Teething Table???

When I got up this morning I had NO idea what my pic of the day would be...
I had no ideas for anything...then this afternoon... when the girlz had finished their biscuits and dh had cleaned them up...'g2' decided that the table would be a good placed to test out her barely emerging tooth!

I was sitting at the other end and I said, "That's it!"
....and promptly jumped up and ran for the camera!
Fortunately it was only a few steps away and I managed to get back quickly and snap a few...
She's just so adorable, isn't she!??

No signs of any teeth for Miss 'C' yet...
I've ordered some Amber necklaces from Lithuania...
Apparently they've used them in Europe for years.
The Amber has anti-inflammatory properties.
Just 'Google' "Amber Teething Necklaces" and a ton of info is there for your perusal if you're interested.
My sister actually told me about them.
So I thought we'd give them a go.

For now I have the Boiron Camilia Homeopathic drops that I use to appease the teething pain gremlins.
It works very well.
In the long run though....and since there are TWO babes...
I figured it would be cheaper to go with the necklaces.

I guess 'g2' decided that the table would make a good temporary teething toy...
The metal would be nice and cool...but not very 'chewy'...
Hope those necklaces arrive soon!

One Potato, Two Potato, Three Potato, Four...er...FIVE!!!

On a rainy afternoon what better way for a couple of potato heads to pass some time than with a few more potato heads! LOL...

Cute Cuddly Caterpillar!!!

How cute is this adorable alphabet caterpillar?!
During an evening of latenight shopping with my friend, I came across this friendly fellow! Sooooo adorable!
Cute! Cute! Cute!
And educational too!
How is such a cute creature educational?
I'll tell you...
The letters of the alphabet are stitched on each of the 'sections' of 'pillar ...
and in "the end" section is a device that, when pressed, plays the 'Alphabet Song'!!!
That's right... "goose" the caterpillar and it plays you a tune!
I just HAD to HAVE it for my babes!
So squooshy and soft...just PERFECT for wrapping around the girlz!
They LOVE the BIG twinkly eyes, the bright colours and it's plushy soft pillowiness!
I've caught them several times with their heads resting on one of the sections...no one's fallen asleep....yet!
I'm sure this guy will be hanging around for several years.
He'll be a real BIG help when it comes time to teach the girlz their ABC's...not to mention several colours too!
Oh and counting....he has 11 sections behind that sweet smiling face!
All in all a pretty good deal for all of that cuteness, fun and education!
No name has been thought of...perhaps I'll let the girlz decide...that's going to be a while...they'll need to learn how to use their ABC's first!

This is what I woke up to this morning!!!
Freshly changed hinies, happy babies, smiling babes, playing on the floor and sooooooo glad to see me!
I couldn't grab my camera fast enough...and 'g2' is a tad blurry b/c I didn't change my dof setting... oh well...
These moments come and go so quickly... by the end of this year I'm certain to be able to make those adjustments quicker and accurately too!
THAT is another goal of mine for this year...it's been a goal for a couple of years now...but, I think, with this picture a day thing....it'll make me more familiar with my camera....and faster at figuring out what I need to do and when!
I actually had a few minutes the other day to read about photography!!!
AND....the real kicker.... I UNDERSTOOD what I was reading!!!

Today's snap was captured during playtime...'g2' delights in pulling the block bucket [another 'b' word!] over and watching the bounty [yet another 'b' word] spill out!
She and her sister pluck their fave of the moment and straight to the mouth it goes...only to be cast aside seconds later for the next favourite...of the moment...and so it goes..moment after moment...favourite after favourite...block after block...
Living in the moment...trying to do that more...

These funky fish are what 'g2' gazes upon anytime she's laying about in her crib!
My "best good" friend found them and just knew they'd so work for the babes room!
We [and by 'we' I mean I picked out the colour and dh & the big kiddos painted!]
painted the walls 'Apple Green' and the room just came alive!
So bright, cheery & FUNky!!!
The perfect choice for these two wee sprites of mine!
A goal of mine this year...and hopefully in the next 5 months really...
is to be able to walk into my bedroom and have it make me smile...
I LOVE my walls... "Salt Water" is currently my paint colour of choice...so very calming...relaxing...but the rest of the room resembles somebodies storage room!
I MUST change the flow in my room....it's not working for me at all right now!

The best toys...2nd post of the day...

WHY are the favorite "toys" NOT toys???
In this case...bowls! I don't know why I thought to pull them out
of the kitchen cupboard...but I did...now they are kept in the toy chest with the rest of the actual "toys".
Good thing there are 6 of them!
No worries about who has how many....each babe could have their hands full and
there would still be 2 bowls available for whomever decides they want THAT one!
So, just what is it with bowls, boxes, paper bags and the like?
The simplest of things are the most attention holding...go figure!

Teething and More!!!

Guess who's getting teeth?
'g2'!!!
I saw a split in her lower gum this past weekend...and I do believe there's another one right beside it....from what I can see amongst the drool and giggles this morning....
I'll try to snap a pic later...

It is Tuesday and so ...my day to drive....
We made it on time and I even stopped to snag a few groceries on the way back...
Had to wake up 'g2' to go and didn't have time to feed her so it was a quick stop as I knew she wouldn't last long...

I have had a sore throat for a couple of days and today woke up with a headache...hope I can make it to the weekend alright....keeping it as low key as I can...

Fired up "Chili Monday" again....gotta get back on task....
We had Cranberry Chili Meatballs...GREAT way to use up leftover cranberry sauce from the holiday meal!!!
Mine was homemade but any you've got will do...

I added a splash of cranberry juice and some oj concentrate...didn't really measure either....probably cut back on the chili sauce....it had a slight burn....was so tasty with the meatballs....yes....homemade as well....no packaged ones here....LOL

Another Monday...

With the big kiddos back to school and dh off to work today...
Here I am...sitting on the floor holding 1 sick babe.
Tried putting her down but she's too snarfly, rumbly & coughy to stay horizontal
for any length of time... poor wee ting...
Hoping to get supper going once I have some extra hands "on deck"...
Yes...just another typical Monday...for now...

She decided it was time to wake...now she's sitting chattering & raspberrying away on the floor amongst her toys...silly monkey!

Yes...it's still Christmas...

Despite my best efforts to get Christmas decorations put away....it did not happen again today...
But we did manage to get the basement computer area semi-sorted.
We will endeavor to complete the task tomorrow...

I do have a small nutcracker collection.
These 3 are the only ones who made it out of the bin this year.
We had a decidedly simplified decorating regime this year.
